MUSIC:

PRAISE BAND AT CONVENTION

The Trinity Lutheran Praise Band from Sulphur, La, will be on hand at the LWML convention this year. They will lead the group in songs of Praise before each session and also perform as entertainment at the banquet on Saturday night. The band has been playing together for about seven years. The three members, Butch Tinker, Allen Walker and Carmen Walker are all members of Trinity. All three are active in their congregation, where Allen serves as Elder and Carmen directs the Puppet ministry. They have participated in worship at the LWML Reformation service in the Southwestern Zone. So plan to get to the sessions early and join in singing praise as we serve in mission.

FIDDLERS AT CONVENTION

Ron Yule and Emily Young (daughter of Elizabeth Smith) from Redeemer Lutheran Church, DeRidder, La, will also enrich our lives with their musical talents. They play fiddle with the organ for church services. Emily attends LSU where she is a junior, majoring in biochemistry. She plans to be a physician’s assistant when her schooling is finished. Emily was the state Fiddle Champion of 2006. Ron Yule has been playing for years and years! He has done much research on fiddling and fiddlers and has written several books in an effort to preserve that history.  He has been recognized as the State Fiddle Champion several times.
